Dear Lakes Region Dance Student and Parents,

 

Our new 2010-2011 dance season is almost here!  We hope you are having a wonderful and fun-filled summer vacation. 

There are a couple new things added/changed in our upcoming dance year.  BALLET WILL NO LONGER BE A REQUIREMENT.  In the past years, LRD students had to be signed up for ballet in order to take any other class.  We have decided that a student will be able to sign up for any classes they would like without any requirement.  We do however strongly recommend Ballet training yearly for the serious dancer.  Ballet teaches many basics and fundamentals of all types of dance.  It also teaches poise and control.  If your child is serious in dance than Ballet should be taken.  Company members however are required to take Ballet, Jazz and Modern.  Our Company Technique class is offered for Level 1 and up.  This class offers a specific lesson each week such as turns, leaps etc.  Your child does not have to be on our Company to take this class.

We also have added more tap classes and tumble classes for all ages.   Our tumble classes are popular and offer your child a fun and different way to move.  Mats are setup on the floor and the Instructor teaches the students the basics of tumbling and in the higher level they are working on back flips and such!  The kids love it! 

Another important note is something very special that is going on in my life this year.  My husband and I will be welcoming the first addition to our family!  I am pregnant and will be going on Maternity Leave after Christmas vacation.  The other teachers have already setup their schedules in order to fill in for my classes.  They will have a lesson plan from me as to what they will be teaching while I will be gone.  I should be returning early March.  This will be extremely different for me to be away from my business and students for a long period of time but please know I will still be around for communication, payments, studio needs etc.
